Why use Training Camps?

While we firmly believe that "the Game is the best teacher," training camps can be a great way to learn more about soccer.  Players can get a little bored with the team-and-competition format, but still love the game.  A camp gives the player a chance to meet other players, to hear other coaches' advice and suggestions on their play, while satisfying their curiosity about the finer points of the game.

There are many kinds of camp:

  • Skills camps - these camps may focus specifically on one or two aspects of the player(s) or the game.  They are usually short (2-3 sessions) and cover subjects like scoring or dribbling.
  • Specialty Camps -  these camps may be for specific positions (Defense or Goalie) and teach strategies and skills appropriate to a group of players.
  • Summer Camps and Winter Holiday Camps - these camps teach the whole game, are usually integrated with other non-soccer activities, but are a fantastic experience in "total immersion" soccer.

Youth get a lot out of these camps, which may be day camps or residential camps.  Costs are anywhere from $120 per week to a whopping $1200 per week for big-name, University run residential camps.
